A proud Aboriginal man, Maurice is a descent from the Worimi peoples of Karuah in the Port Stephens area. Growing up he has always had a strong passion for Aboriginal dance and culture and has practised dance from a young age. After finishing school, it became Maurice’s passion to share aspects of traditional dance and culture.
Maurice works with Speaking in Colour as a facilitator of Aboriginal dance and culture workshops. His passion for culture shines when he is dancing, playing didge and sharing knowledge with the wider community. Maurice enjoys spending time with local community groups where he makes clap-sticks, weapons, tools and much more.
