In the recent times of the BLM movement we realise there are many people out there who are in need of an outlet to learn and understand Aboriginal culture, history and how to become an agent for change. Next month we are offering a rare opportunity to book single tickets to an online Cultural Capacity Training session. With only two session dates and 50 spots available this will sell out fast, so book now.
Interwoven with personal narratives this 3-hour workshop covers a wide range of topics to help the participant have a greater understanding and empathy of where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are at today.
Presented by Cherie Johnson, a Gamilaroi and Weilwun woman who resides on Awabakal land and the founder/managing director of Speaking in Colour.
Topics included in this presentation are:
- Cultural practices prior to European contact.
- Rebutting some of the myths around the time of early colonial contact.
- The policies and practices, which have directly affected Aboriginal people.
- Our current political situation.
- How cultural revival is sweeping the nation and its role.
A pre-workshop activity is also included and will be sent to your email a week prior.
