This course designed for educators using the EYLF and has three main areas of focus, Understanding the:

  • Why: Who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people? Why do we need to embed cultural content into our classrooms? How does closing the Gap relate to my classroom?
  • How: What does this look like? How to be culturally appropriate in your region. Addressing and understanding the barriers for the children, educators, families and management.
  • Implementing strategies: What is a reliable and valid resource? Explore the cultural revivals sweeping the nation.

The session will encourage most educators to have a go at implementing Aboriginal perspectives.

 

NOTE: This session is running with 3 other Aboriginal education sessions at the same venue over this same weekend.  Aboriginal education in Singleton 22nd-23rdMarch 2019

Friday 22nd

How to implement Aboriginal perspectives (into stages1-3) 6-8pm $60pp

Saturday 23rd

How to implement Aboriginal perspectives (into ELFW) 9:30-11:30 $60pp

Possum Skin Cloaks 12-2pm $89pp

Time to move- Aboriginal dance 2-4pm $60pp

 

Completing How to Implement Aboriginal perspectives training will contribute 2hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 2.4.2& 4.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
