Emily Punu descendent of the Biripi nation currently living in East Maitland Wonnarua country.
I have been dancing for more than 25yrs. Studying different styles such as classical ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary etc. Attending Hunter School of Performing Art at Broadmeadow. Being one of many who was able to perform for the opening ceremony of the Olympics in 2000.From there attended NAISDA which was based in Sydney at that time.
Also performing at various venues and events with the dance group Yidaki, didg and dance. Since high school I have had the privilege to teach Aboriginal traditional/ contemporary dance to all types of age groups and abilities. Currently teaching at numerous schools across the hunter and performing.
Emily is a wonderful addition to the Speaking in Colour team, inspired by the traditional to teach the contemporary.
