Elizabeth Howard
My name is Elizabeth Howard and I am a proud Wanarua and Gamilaroi Yinaar (woman) residing in the Hunter Valley region. My journey began as a daughter, granddaughter and niece. I am a sister, cousin and Aunty. My biggest accomplishment is being a mother to 3 young boys and raising them with my partner. My proudest moment is being able to maintain this while working in areas that I have a keen interest and passion for, which is all things relating to and impacting our mob.
I have a working experience within every aspect that comes under the banner of “Close the Gap” from Health to Education, Youth to Employment, Land to Culture & Heritage.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work at Deakin University. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge in this area and intend on undertaking a postgraduate in Indigenous research once completing my degree.
I am excited to be joining the Speaking In Colour family. I have been fortunate to be a part of such projects like the resurgence weaving, possum cloak and contemporary dance development with a young women’s program.
